Description: She has her family with her in therapy to try and work through some issues. The young lady is absolutely fed up with always being told what to do and she basically just wants some independence. Her family feels that she is not responsible enough to have freedom, but the therapist thinks that maybe they are being a bit too controlling. The young lady suggests that maybe there is some underlying jealousy towards her success. The therapist thinks there is merit to this argument and encourages the family to reflect on their actions. In the meantime, the therapist decides to give the young lady a small taste of independence, allowing her to make a choice that will have consequences. If she makes a responsible choice, then great, but if she chooses poorly, then it will have negative repercussions for the entire family.
